I wrote this a couple of years ago and want to share it again.
On this First Day of Spring!
"Awake, thou wintry earth - Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth your ancient gladness!"
~Thomas Blackburn, "An Easter Hymn"

Happy Spring to you all!
I love spring!
As did my Grandma.
And she just loved that her birthday was on the first day of spring.  Every year around this time she spent many hours outside getting ready for the warm months of spring and summer. Weeding out the garden back by the shed. Trimming back the ever growing ivy. Pruning the plum trees. Sweeping out dead leave from around the pool. But most of all she love to plant new and pretty flowers in all of her pots that lined the front walkway and back patio. Purple Pansies and yellow Marigolds. New fuschia Geraniums hanging in the picture windows.

"I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature's rebirth? "
~Edward Giobbi

And how could we forget her spring time decorations for the house. Yellow and pink went up all around the house. Pillows on the davenport. Place mats, napkins and candles on the dinning table.
Easter! She loved to make up Easter baskets for all of us to find. Filled to the brim with candy! I think making us grandkids smile was her greatest joy in life. Oh how she loved us all!

To Grandma!
On her Birthday and On her favorite day of the year,
The First Day of Spring!
